- Learning target: By the end of class, I will have a better understanding of what the Reading portion of the SAT will look like.
- SAT reading passage - this needs to be completed individually. Class needs to be silent during this. It is untimed, but it is for a grade.
- Common App essay time - Work on your rough draft - it is due by the end of the day Friday. Remember, the first draft does not have to be perfect, but it has to be something that we can workshop. Also, this time needs to be mostly quiet, as you can ask questions and help each other, but your energy needs to be on writing the essay. Remember, your word count limit is 650.

If you're looking for a great online task organizer, go to your App Store and download the free app Any Do. It also works on your chromebooks at any.do. I want to see that your assignments are organized on Friday.
- College Fair Project - Revise slideshow and start posterboard.
- For the posterboard - Remember, for the college fair, you're going to have your computer and the posterboard. The slideshow will have ALL of your required info. The posterboard is supposed to give what you think is the most important information for your audience. What will get others to stop at your booth instead of someone else's? It should be informative and eye-catching. You'll have some time on Friday to work on this too.
- Make sure your Cornell notes and marking the text from Monday are turned in on Friday. You'll have a graded activity on those readings on Friday, so you need to be familiar with the content of both.
- At the end of class, you need to post a reflection of what you got done and your next steps on Canvas. It'll be the most recent discussion board.

- Work on Level 2 and Level 3 questions (DUE FRIDAY). There are sheets in the back for you to split up the questions with your partner. Also, finding a student for the interview should be a priority because they may take some time to get back to you. Here's the question bank. Ask the questions that will tell you what you want/need to know about your school.

Make sure you're editing for grammar and mechanics as well as providing rich detail.

- Goal-setting - On your blog, set goals for yourself this year. Be as specific as possible, so instead of saying "get good grades and turn in work on time," break it down even more than that. Think about academic, personal, and social goals. What behaviors and state of mind do you need to have to make that happen? How will you know if you're not meeting your goal? If you fall off track, what is your plan to get back on?

- AVID slogan and t-shirt design - Working in teams, you are going to come up with a slogan for our AVID program at CHS. You will also be creating a logo or design for AVID. All AVID classes at CHS will be doing this, and the slogans and designs will be voted on and the winning slogan and design will go on our AVID shirts for the year.
- Groups need to write a proposal and rationale for their slogan and visual. This proposal should be approximately 300 words (one page), typed, double spaced, and formal.
