- Learning Target: I can begin to understand the components of the college essay.
- For the last part of your final, you are going to brainstorm potential essay topics for your college essay. This is a key component to your college application and something you will work on more extensively during the spring of your junior year. By the time you start your senior year, the essay should be mostly done and only needing small revisions. For most college applications, you will submit one main essay and for some schools, you will submit some short answer prompts. The college essay prompts below are the main choices you will have for your big essay, which can be UP TO 650 words. You don't want your essay to be a sob story - instead, think about what qualities you want colleges to see in you and how you can SHOW those qualities through a story or experience you've had. While your topic may change by the time you write your official essay, it is important to start thinking about it now.
- Read through the six Common App Essay Prompts
- On Canvas, brainstorm 4 possible essays that you could write based on any of these prompts. Include the prompt you chose too.
- Continue working on your Khan Academy SAT Prep - you should be working through the diagnostic tests or practice to get yourself more familiar with how the site works. This should be something you work on throughout the summer.
